Line Organisation vs. Project Organisation
You have a boss? And he/she has also a boss? And your boss has an assistant? Then you work in a typical line organization with a strong hierarchical system. But there are other structures. And we’re not talking about communism. We’re talking about a project organisation. People are linked together in a project team. Sometimes for short projects of a month or so and sometimes for over a year. There is always someone who’s in charge of the project’s success. And there’s a team that helps make it succeed. Now comes the cool part. You generally work in several projects in parallel. Your team leader in one project may be a team member in another project – a project that YOU lead! It’s almost like swapping roles with your boss. But of course we would never say that, because we don’t have any bosses around here.
