We recently closed our offshore development office in St. Petersburg, Russia.

We had a great team there but weren’t able to integrate them well enough into the processes here in Munich. As we had no plans to grow the office in SPB significantly and we only had four guys there, we were stuck in the middle. The team was too small to be self sustainable, especially with regard to offering everybody a clear track for personal development.

So after almost a year of agonizing and sometimes just deferring the issue, at the start of this year we together with the team decided to close the office. Everybody had almost nine months of warning to look for a new job. Plus we created an attractive termination package to make sure that all the young families that had sprung up around our team there were provided for. >> more…

For me, work and life is not something I want to balance.

We should not work on anything that we wouldn’t also spent our private time on.

This year, our annual company event will be different. Every year in the summer we collect all conject employees in on one place for a couple of days of fun and learning. In recent years we always played some form of more or less elaborate games. This year, we are going to give something back to the community. We are going to go to Duisburg and build some utility sheds and refurbish some garden furniture for a youth center. We have set the whole thing up like a real construction project. We have a financing team, a design team, a team of project managers, a marketing team and even a catering team. The architects on our team designed some cool custom build sheds that we are going to assemble on site. Our marketeers came up with a very effective web site to market the project and collect donations for the construction costs. Check it out at www.konsequentconject.com. >> more…

The last couple of days we had our “Rookie days”. Once a quarter all new hires from all offices come together in Munich for a series of introductory presentations about conject, the company, the market and our products.

This afternoon I gave my presentation about the strategic direction of our products. On my way home I realized, we had had 9 people there and

one Russian
two Polish
one German from Dubai (=Expat)
one Australian
one Turkish
one Moldavian
two Germans
