Not everybody understands English and anyway for native speakers it’s much easier. conjectPM is available in 18 languages, however it wasn’t that easy to administer them, which resulted in our users not being fully satisfied:

language_chooser2

-    In some places we had a mix of native language and English
-    Some translations didn’t match the context anymore
-    Wrong country-specific mail addresses and telephone numbers showed up
-    Special characters were displayed incorrectly
-    New functionalities weren’t translated until weeks later…

We wanted and needed to change that, and to simplify and ramp up the whole translation process.

Thus we cleaned up our properties files from scratch. Now there are only four translation files for each language, many unused or duplicated keys were removed by taxing handcraft – so that now all keys are unique. Furthermore we excluded content which shouldn’t be translated in the properties files (e.g. the language selection list).

Currently all existing languages are translated completely. With that basis we could run a check based on English from which revision the last export took place and which keys were added newly or changed. This way we are now able to refresh all new contents in all languages on a continuous basis!
